Victor Armstrong joined the Board of Directors at RI International in June 2018.  He brings his expertise in the field of behavioral health obtained throughout his career.  He is an advocate for strengthening community mental health resources.  He also is a strong advocate for suicide awareness, reducing mental illness stigma, and reducing health disparities.

Victor is currently the Vice President of Behavioral Health for Atrium Health  based in Charlotte, North Carolina and the Facility Executive of Behavioral Health – Charlotte.  His responsibilities include operational and strategic oversight of inpatient beds, the psychiatric emergency department,  and ten provider-based outpatient behavioral health programs.  Additionally, Victor serves on the board for the National Council of Behavioral Health, i2i Center for Integrative Health, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.  He is also active in his local community by participating in committees such as the Mecklenburg County Mental Health Task Force and the Mecklenburg Provider Council Executive Board.

Victor holds a degree in Business Administration from NC Central University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from East Carolina University.  He is a recognized leader in behavioral health and was named NAMI’s Mental Health Professional of the Year in 2012.
