Supported Education

Supported Education: is the way we work with individuals who live with mental health and/or substance use challenges to assist them in receiving education and training so they can meet their intellectual and recovery goals, so they can move into the career of their choice and, so they can become gainfully employed in the larger community. We do this by offering individuals support to successfully:

Complete a Career Plan

  • Vocational assessment
  • Individualized education plan
  • Course selection
  • Instruction, support, counseling

Develop Academic Survival Skills

  • College or training information
  • Disability rights and resources
  • Tutoring and mentoring services
  • Time and stress management
  • Social supports

Utilize Direct Assistance

  • Enrollment and Financial aid
  • Education debt management
  • Contingency funds

Receive Integrated Services by utilizing

  • Campus resources
  • Behavioral health treatment team members
  • Other agencies (Voc Rehab, SSA, etc.)

The Recovery Education Center utilizes the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s best practice model of Supported Education and the choose-get-keep model of service delivery.
