Opening August 2020

The Forensic ACT Team (FACT) will serve individuals with serious mental illness, who often have co-occurring substance use disorders, who have repeated contact with law enforcement and the criminal justice system that is driven by their symptoms of mental illness. FACT services will be delivered to fidelity with the SAMHSA criteria for this type of service.

The individuals served by the team must have one of the following diagnoses: Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Disorder with psychotic features; have 2 or more interactions with law enforcement in the past year due to mental illness or substance abuse (this includes involuntary commitment); and be assessed to have medium or high criminogenic risk on a standardized risk and need assessment. This last criterion is what separates FACT from a typical ACT team by creating a purposeful focus on mentally ill individuals who end up with frequent contact with the criminal justice system.
