Life isn’t just measured in the years a person lives; life is looked upon as to what an individual commits to in his/her time.  The ups and downs, good times and bad, success stories or failures to bear, a person’s life says it all. Oftentimes, we come across such amazing stories, as in life experiences; from people we consider role models or people that have had a huge impact on our society.

From a young age growing up in California, I learned the importance of a strong work ethic. My family moved several times and adapting to change became a way of life.  We settled in   Puyallup, Washington, my parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.  We lived on a farm, which allowed me to spend a great many afternoons on my horse contemplating life. I began work very young babysitting and have always strived to be independent and successful in life.  I learned with success there are many ups and downs, which led me to the helping profession.

When I sit back and consider the significant events in my past, the important aspects of my current life, and my future goals; I appreciate the diversity in my life, the ability to be a mother to my wonderful daughters and sons. To watch them grow and know that I had an influence in their life. The joys of being a grandmother, watching their parents interact with them, smiling when it reminds me of me.  The joy and privilege to have worked with young men and women in my local church and share parts of my own personal story that may empower them to rise to the occasion.

My career began with Recovery Innovations in 2010 as a MHP, Shift Supervisor. The positive attitude to face hardships brought out the best in me, which I believe lead me to my current role as RSA of Pierce County.

Earning my bachelor’s degree in Human Services at University of Phoenix and my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Chapman University has provided tools for my continued growth. Today I am looking forward to facing the challenges of life in a positive manner.
