Description

Welcome to the Durham Recovery Response Center

At the Durham Recovery Response Center, we are committed to providing a compassionate and supportive environment to help you on your journey towards mental health and recovery. Your path to mental health and recovery will be embraced with empathy, dedicated support, and professional care. Our center serves as a sanctuary for those seeking both immediate and long-term mental health assistance in a secure and caring environment. Our Campus of Connection features two essential units: the Retreat (Tier 4 Behavioral Health Urgent Care) and the Living Room Unit (Facility Based Crisis), each designed to address your specific needs with care and understanding. This service is designated for individuals, voluntary or involuntary, who are 18 and older.

Our Approach: We embrace a peer-powered approach, where individuals with lived experience in recovery provide empathy and understanding, seamlessly integrated with our clinical and medical expertise to ensure holistic, person-centered care, ensuring that our care is trauma-informed, compassionate, and inviting. Our goals are to reduce the intensity of symptoms, prevent harm, and facilitate recovery.

The Retreat Unit: Our Retreat Unit offers a warm and open environment with two key services:

  • Behavioral Health Urgent Care
  • 23-Hour Observation Unit

The Retreat operates as a “psychiatric emergency room” and is often the first step into treatment. Open 24/7, the Retreat provides comprehensive triage and clinical and medical assessments to determine each individual's needs. Under the guidance of a psychiatric nurse practitioner or psychiatrist, we offer crisis intervention, comprehensive treatment for mental health and substance use concerns, detoxification and withdrawal management, peer support, and more. See our available services list for our full continuum of care.

In the Retreat, one can receive immediate crisis intervention for up to 23 hours, ensuring the next appropriate level of care is secured, which may include community services, facility-based crisis services (next door on the same campus), or inpatient hospitalization.

The Living Room Unit: Our Campus of Connection also includes the Living Room Unit, which provides mental health stabilization, non-hospital medical detoxification and withdrawal management, crisis stabilization and more. See our available services list to view our full continuum of care.

The Living Room Unit offers a safe and supportive environment for short-term stabilization and ongoing care. Our dedicated team provides peer support and addresses basic needs, crisis intervention, and medication support and care while working closely with each guest to ensure a smooth transition to the next level of care.

No Fee for Service: Our services are funded by your local Managed Care Organizations, so there is no charge to guests.

Get in Touch: Services are available and referrals are accepted 24/7 through walk-ins, family referral, first responder drop-off, or provider agency referral. Ready to take the next step? Visit our lobby for assistance or Call our front desk at 919-560-7305
