Description
The Durham Recovery Response Center operates a 23hour Unit termed the Retreat on its campus of connection. The Retreat embodies a warm open concept with two distinct services including a Tier 4 Behavioral Health Urgent Care and 23 Hour Observation Unit. This unit is very important to the overall campus of connection as we see it as a “psychiatric emergency room” and first step into treatment. 24/7, all individuals are triaged, clinically and medically assessed to determine their needs. Based on each guests’ needs as determined by a psychiatric nurse practitioner or psychiatrist, psychiatric evaluations are conducted, medications are started or continued for mental health concerns, detoxification from opiates/benzos/alcohol or induction and continuation protocols for MAT are initiated for substance use concerns, peer support is provided, and/or basic needs are addressed. The Retreat has the ability to stabilize an individual (18 years and older) for up to 23hours until the next appropriate level of care is secured which may include community services, facility based crisis services (next door on the same campus), or inpatient hospitalization.
The Facility Based Crisis or Living Room Unit is on the Durham RRC’s campus of connection. The Living Room provides 3-5 days of mental health stabilization, non-hospital medical detoxification from opiates/benzos/alcohol, crisis stabilization, and medication assisted treatment.
Office Based Opioid Treatment Clinic is an outpatient clinic which provides medication assisted treatment including individual therapy, group therapy, and medication to individuals with a substance use disorder.
