Welcome to the Newark Recovery Response Center

At the Newark Recovery Response Center, we offer a compassionate and welcoming environment designed to support your journey towards mental health and recovery. Your path to mental health and recovery will be met with compassion, support, and expert care. Our center is a haven for individuals seeking immediate and sustained mental health support in a safe, nurturing environment. Our campus features a Retreat unit, a 23-hour observation unit, with services designed to meet your unique needs. We serve individuals, voluntary and involuntary, who are 18 years and older.

The Retreat Unit: Our Retreat Unit embodies a warm and open concept. Think of the Retreat as a “psychiatric emergency room" and the first step towards treatment. Open 24/7, our team triages, clinically and medically assesses each guest to determine their needs. Under the guidance of a psychiatric nurse practitioner or psychiatrist, we offer:

Immediate Crisis Intervention
Comprehensive Treatment for Mental Health and Substance Use Concerns
Initiation or Continuation of Medications for Mental Health concerns
Detoxification and Withdrawal Management from opioids, benzodiazepines, and alcohol
Protocols for Medications for Substance Use Disorders (MAT/MOUD/MSUD)
Peer support and basic needs assistance

Our goal is to provide a seamless continuum of care, from immediate crisis intervention to short-term stabilization, ensuring that each guest's recovery journey begins in a safe, supportive, and healing environment, with respect and dignity at the forefront. In the Retreat unit, our dedicated team provides peer support and addresses basic needs, immediate crisis intervention, and medication support, as well as ensures the next appropriate level of care is secured, which may include community services, facility-based detox services, or inpatient hospitalization.

Our Approach: We embrace a peer-powered approach, where individuals with lived experience in recovery provide empathy and understanding, seamlessly integrated with our clinical and medical expertise to ensure holistic, person-centered care ensuring that our care is trauma-informed, compassionate, and inviting. Our goals are to reduce the intensity of symptoms, prevent harm, and facilitate recovery.

No Fee for Service: Our services are funded by DSAMH, so there is no charge to guests.
