Description

This training is designed for Certified Peer Support Specialists who want to improve their knowledge of the recovery language and how to use it effectively.  "The Power of Recovery Language" training uses an interactive format where participants gain expertise and confidence in using both verbal and non-verbal language skills to support people in recovery in a variety of support settings.  

After attending the training you will be able to match recovery language to the various stages of recovery, recognize how language can support or harm people, remove barriers and change perceptions and mistaken beliefs about recovery and provide opportunities for self-empowerment  for each person to achieve their recovery goals and dreams.

  • Examine the structure of “recovery language 

  • Identify what to say and what not to say 

  • Expand your non-verbal language skills 

  • Explore recovery language through different lenses 

  • Practice “stage” matched recovery language

Each applicant must have access to an internet-connected computer equipped with a functional webcam, microphone, and speakers that can all remain in use throughout the entirety of training.
